Frequently Asked Questions!
Why should we book a professional wedding photographer?
Professional wedding photographers will tell you that photographing a wedding is an art. It is very different from photographing anything else, and it takes a lot of experience and knowledge to create the perfect images from your special day. Professional photographers also use professional quality equipment and have the knowledge to turn your special day into a photographic record that you will cherish for the rest of your life.
It is important that both you and the photographer are at ease with each other, I always like to meet with my couples as I want you to be as comfortable with me as I am with you. Also, book your wedding in advance, our schedules do fill up quickly and it is best that you don't struggle to find the perfect photographer.
Should we have a professional Make-up Artist on the big day?
Yes please do! Remember this is your special day, you want to look beautiful for the whole day and Make-up Artists will use professional make-up that will last for up to 18 hours. Also, the professional make-up looks much better on photographs as it does not shine or reflect light. Should you need a make-up artist, ask your photographer, we all have contacts of people we have worked with before.
Do you offer a pre-shoot or an engagement shoot?
We have a pre-shoot or engagement shoot included in all of our packages. This is for two reasons, firstly you get some lovely pictures of the two of you together in an informal setting which you can use for your "Save the Date" or for your invitations. The second reason is, your wedding day is a stressful day, and having a camera pointed at you and with the photographer constantly telling you to do things can add to this stress. So we use the engagement shoot to teach you what to do in front of the camera and let you get comfortable with what looks good on camera. It also helps you to be more at ease with us, so we help to remove some of the stress of the big day.
What do you mean by edited images?
I, like most professional photographers photograph everything in a format called RAW. Not everyone can open RAW images as it requires special software. When I edit the photographs, I do colour and exposure correction, as well as remove any marks or blemishes in the photograph, and then convert them to JPEG format. I do not alter the persons body shape, or face shape as I feel this is not a true reflection of my clients. I may soften peoples skin slightly to remove any unwanted marks or blemishes, but do not do Airbrushing like in the magazines.
In all of my packages, I give a number of edited images, these will be high resolution JPEG's (ready for printing up to A0 size). This is the number of photographs you will receive, as I do not give unedited or RAW images. I will also give you Black & White as well as Sepia images and some creative images. Should you wish any changes all you need to do is ask!
What do we get after our wedding?
All of our packages inlcude a DVD with high resolution images, presented in a DVD case with a printed cover and the DVD has a printed label. On the DVD, you will find a folder with the high resolution images, and should you request it we can include some low resolution images for internet use. You will also get a DVD montage, which is a slide show of selected photographs set to music of your choice (normally the first dance music).
All packages also include an Album, you can choose between a Flat Lay Italian Leather Album (a very classic album where we print the photos and stick them in for you) or a Printed Coffee Table book. Our larger packages include Canvas mounts, these are photos of your choice printed on Canvas and mounted on wood.
How long does it take to get the DVD and Photo Album?
It takes between 6 to 8 weeks to get the DVD's and Album. This does also depend on you, as we need to sign off on the design of the Album before it goes to print. I will do an initial design and you can change the order or photographs in the Album until you are happy with the layout. Once the design is approved by you it takes approximately 15 working days to print the Album.
Why do you only offer packages that are a minimum of 8 hours?
Our packages start at 8 hours, but we can change this if you would like shorter or longer depending on your needs. 8 hours is pretty standard, as we photograph the venue (reception site) first and we need about an hour for this. Then I photograph the bride getting final preparations done, like getting the dress on and last make-up touches as well as photos of the bridal party before the ceremony. At this time, our second photographer does the same with the Groom and the Groomsmen.
We then photograph the ceremony, group photo's (as per your specifications), and the couple shoot which we need an hour for. Then during the reception we cover the guests, the couple, cake cutting, garter and bouquet toss and of course the first dance.
Why do you have 2 photographers on all of your packages?
I always have Sherrie, my second photographer with me at weddings, and this is to ensure we can photograph the groom and bride getting ready as this normally happens at the same time. We also photograph the rest of your wedding at the same time but from different angles and perspectives which gives you a more rounded look of the day.
Do you offer Videography?
Unfortunately no, I prefer to specialise in Photography, but we do have a few videographers that we work with and can help guide you to a great videographer.
